During the Wednesday, July 27 Madison County Commission meeting, the county commissioners addressed their contract with Certified Towing.
The commissioners are donating 9.84 acres on SE Dale Leslie Drive to Certified Towing. The land has an estimated value of $180,000.
One citizen came forward at the meeting, expressing his concern with the contract. Points were made that there are several businesses within Madison County that already handle towing, and that giving away the property wasn’t the right step to take, as the $180,000 could have been used to purchase new vehicles for EMS or the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.
After hearing this, the commissioners agreed to take a second look at the contract. A public hearing will be held in regards to the contract at the next county commission meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 10 at 9 a.m. At that time, changes to the contract will be discussed.
