Computer program keeps parents informed

Nancy Taylor: Greene Publishing, Inc.

Madison County Schools have adopted a program from Focus School Software which will allow teachers, administrators, parents and students to access a portal that displays key responsibilities, information, and notifications in real-time.

Information available to parents through this program includes: address changes, student schedules, grades, and class assignments. Additional accessible information includes calendars, featured programs, demographics, attendance, and discipline information. Parents can also sign up to receive direct notifications when discipline or attendance issues arise.

Teachers can utilize the program to create class web pages and lesson plans. This program will also allow parents and teachers to communicate with one another, simplifying the number of places both parties have to check in order to stay apprised of each student’s progress.

Parents with multiple children in the district can select which child’s information they wish to view from a pulldown menu without having multiple logins. The system is totally secure. Parents will have to register and choose a unique password allowing them to have restricted access to their child's or children’s information.

If you would like to receive more information about this program, contact your child’s school or the school board office.
