MPD receives 2,342 calls in September

The Madison Police Department responded to 2,342 calls in September. This is 457 more calls received than in August. Since October 2014, the department has received 22,892 calls for service. There were 22 reported felonies, 38 reported misdemeanors and 100 incidents, reports. Of the 100 incidents reported there were 10 burglaries, one battery (domestic violence) and two drug arrests. The department cleared four felonies and 23 misdemeanors. There were 123 warning citations issued. Five criminal citations were issued and 49 non-criminal citations were issued. The department investigated nine traffic accidents.

Contractor arrested for fraud

Attorney General Pam Bondi’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office arrested a general contractor for defrauding the Medicaid program out of more than $100,000 on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Richard Lee Edwards, 60 of Madison and owner of Richard Edwards Construction, Inc., allegedly billed for construction services without a license to perform the services and without obtaining required permits. According to Attorney General Bondi’s MFCU and the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation’s joint investigation, Edwards fraudulently billed for handicap accessible ramp construction and bathroom modifications…

Man charged in double vehicular homicide

An arrest has been made in the fatal crash that took the lives of 22-year-old Logan Paige Shelley of Pinetta, Fl. and 23-year-old Kyle Ryan Naville of Valdosta, Ga. on Feb. 25, 2015 in Lowndes County, Ga. According to Georgia State Patrol’s investigation, Jeremy Mack Carter, 35, of Valdosta, Ga. was driving a Ford F-150 traveling southbound, in the northbound lane of Old Clyattville Road attempting to pass a school bus. Drug Bust: Three arrested on drug charges

Madison County Sheriff Ben Stewart reports that on Tuesday, Oct. 27, Madison County Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force investigators went to a residence located at 200 SW Apollo Trail in Madison to look for Quinn Anthony Lee, 34, of Madison who had active narcotic arrest warrants resulting from a previous covert narcotic distribution investigation.
