Picking peanuts for Founder’s Day

Story Submitted By Dan Buchanan This past weekend was “official” peanut-picking time at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church.  Church members are working hard preparing for the 27th Annual Founder’s Day event at the church, and picking off about 20 bushels of fresh green peanuts, blanching them and putting them in the freezer. Nearly 40 folks from the church and community came early on Saturday, Aug. 26 and worked till mid- afternoon picking the peanuts.
