Carole Mitchell
Greene Publishing, Inc., is excited to introduce the newest member of our staff: Carole Mitchell. Mitchell is a Buckeye native from Ohio. She completed her undergraduate coursework in English at The Ohio State University. Despite being a Buckeye, Mitchell's mother is from Pensacola; where she and her brother spent their childhood summers.
Mitchell's life in Columbus included a twenty year marriage to a former Florida State University football player and their union created a daughter and a son. Her daughter is a 7th grade math teacher in Charlotte, NC and her son is a college student in Ohio.
Mitchell has only lived in the area for a few months. Prior to moving to Florida, she dreamed of living in a small town where she could be of service to/with her neighbors. She went on to recite the lyrics from the eighties TV show, Cheers, “sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name. And they are always glad you came.” This was the motivation for her to load up her car in August of this year and relocate to Monticello, Fl.
“Columbus, Oh. is a big city,” she says. “Everyone is in a rush. People do not speak to each other or seem to care about their neighbors. In northern Florida, the sense of community is overwhelming.” She referred to the various weather information and outpouring of assistance provided to residents during the recent hurricanes.
She will be reporting on local news around the Madison area.
