In a little less than a week, it will be one month since the abduction of Bryan Williamson, a 7-year-old boy from Madison County.
While Williamson was discovered 12 hours later on Monday, April 18, the search for the man who abducted him is still an ongoing hunt.
The terror for Williamson’s family started on Sunday, April 17 after Williamson was abducted while walking the short distance between his cousin’s house and Williamson’s own home in Gibson Trailer Parkway on US 90 East. Around 6:10 p.m., witnesses claimed that a man, driving a black, four-door sedan, abducted him.
The next few hours were every parent’s nightmare as Williamson couldn’t be located and had seemingly vanished.
A statewide AMBER alert was issued and on Monday morning, Williamson appeared on the doorstep of a Jacksonville home as he knocked on the door and asked to speak to his mother.
According to Williamson, he had been dropped off and instructed to knock at the door.
The resident quickly recognized Williamson from the AMBER alert and called authorities.
Williamson’s parents drove to Jacksonville and were reunited with their son, but resting easy is hard when the man who orchestrated that period of terror is still free and could be anywhere.
The Madison Police Department, the FBI and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement are still working together, pouring over the case from all angles as they try and uncover more clues to lead to the identity of the man who kidnapped Williamson from his family.
Following a Thursday, April 21 press conference, the investigation agencies announced extra information about the man, claiming that they are looking for a dark skinned male, possibly African American or Hispanic. The man is not believed to be a Madison County local or to have been working with others during Williamson’s kidnapping.
“We are going over information and video footage,” said the Madison Police Department’s Sgt. Investigator David Spicer continued by saying that the three agencies are hoping to uncover more information soon.
The public is again reminded that the FBI tip line is open to receive any information regarding the Williamson case; nothing is too small and the slightest detail may be the much-needed missing piece that is required to bring the man who kidnapped Williamson to justice.
Those with information can contact the FBI through their tip line by calling 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324).
There is a $50,000 reward for information leading to the discovery and arrest of the kidnapper.
