A homeowner near Greenville Elementary School reported sightings of a black bear in their yard last week. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) officers were dispatched to the area but by the time they reached the area, the bear had moved on.
FWC officers and a biologist were sent to the area on Thursday, July 24, in an effort to haze the bear and show that being around humans is not a good idea. The bear was not spotted during that time and there have been no reports of black bear sightings since the initial reports.
If you spot a black bear, report the sighting to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office at (850) 973-4001.
