This week, Miracle Sports released their annual All-State softball teams for each athletic division, and the Aucilla Christian Academy (ACA) state champion team was well represented among the rankings. In the Division 2A classification, ACA's softball coach, Becky Brandies, of Madison County, was named the All-State Coach of the Year. “Coaching such an extraordinary group of girls makes my job easy and it makes my job fun,” said Brandies. “I would not have received this honor if it was not for them.”
Also in the Division 2A classification, was ACA junior Abigail Morgan, who received All-State Pitcher of the Year. Morgan, a resident of Jefferson County and the daughter of Susan and Mitchel Morgan, had a record season and led the Lady Warriors to their second consecutive state title. By the end of the 2016 softball season, Morgan had four home runs, 35 RBIs (runners brought in) and 22 runs scored. She also had a total batting average of .494 and pitched 121 strike-outs.
Other local All-State team members include the following players: Kelly Horne of ACA (1st team All-State), Natalie Sorensen of ACA (1st team All-State), Ramsey Sullivan of ACA (1st team) and Carly Joiner of ACA (2nd team).
