It's that time of year to get that baseball bat out and start breaking in that new baseball glove. Baseball and softball seasons will soon be here. Parents of youngsters interested in playing baseball or softball with the Babe Ruth Baseball/Softball League this season have one more chance to sign up. Registration will be Saturday, Feb. 3, at the Madison County Courthouse between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. A parent or legal guardian must complete and sign the player registration and provide a copy of the youngster's birth certificate. Fees for the season are $60 per participant. After Sunday, Feb. 4, a $20 late fee will be added.
Tryouts will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10 at the Madison County Recreation Department Complex, located at 753 SW Anastasia Way, just off US Hwy. 90 West, next to Madison County High School, in Madison. Opening day will be Saturday, Mar. 17 at the Madison County Recreation Department Complex.
Ages will range from four years old for T-ball to 13-15 years old, depending on interest level.
