The 2016 Primary Election is fast approaching, bringing with it an assortment of candidates for both local and national seats.
It can be a bit daunting to choose whom to cast your vote for, or maybe you already know who exactly is deserving of your choice when standing in the election booth.
If you feel the need to change information on your voter registration or haven’t yet registered, Monday, August 1, is the cut off date for the 2016 Primary Election. If you have not registered by that point, you will not be able to vote in the upcoming election.
Changing information, such as your party, much also be done before August 1 in order to be certain that the ballot of you choice is presented to you at the polls.
Early voting will begin on Saturday, August 20, and end a week later on Saturday, August 27.
The actual election date will be Tuesday, August 30.
For the October and November 2016 General Election, the closure on allowing changes to voter information or registering to vote is 29 days before the General Election which will be held Tuesday, October 11.
By October 11, all information must be up-to-date, and all individuals who desire to have their voice heard must be registered.
Early voting for the 2016 General Election begins on Saturday, October 29, and ends Saturday, November 5.
The Election Day for the General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 8; after that date, voting will be closed until the next cycle of elections.
The Madison County Supervisor of Elections Office’s website, votemadison.com, has resources for all inquiring voters, such as a list of candidates for local seats, a search tab to find your precinct and voting place, an option to request a mail-in ballot and, as the election draws closer, sample ballots for Republican, Democrat, Minor/NPA and Libertarian parties.
