A Madison man was shot and wounded on his back left side, from his buttocks to below his shoulder blade, on Tuesday, March 11.
According to a Madison County Sheriff’s Office report, Deputy Jason Whitfield was dispatched to Johnson Trailer Park on Georgia Street in reference to a man being shot. While en route, Whitfield was advised by dispatched that the suspect, Aron Clark, had left the scene driving a blue Suburban with tinted windows.
After checking for the vehicle and not finding it, Whitfield went to the crime scene, where Madison Police Department Sgt. Chris Cooks had the witnesses writing statements.
Whitfield spoke with several witnesses himself.
One of the witnesses said that she was sitting on a couch inside a residence with the victim, Loronya Haynes, when they heard a vehicle pull up. She said that the two of them saw a black male sitting in the vehicle, putting a gun together.
She and Haynes walked outside and Haynes got into an argument with Clark, the driver of the vehicle.
Clark told the woman she needed to step back inside the residence and she did. She said she heard a gunshot and Haynes stepped inside, told her he had been shot and fell to the floor.
Whitfield received a call from dispatch that Clark was at the jail to turn himself in for the shooting.
Clark said that Haynes and a friend walked around the residence and walked up to him when he honked the horn. Clark said that they began talking “junk” to him. He said that he put his .410 shotgun together and placed it in the passenger seat and exited the vehicle.
Clark said as he exited the truck, they came at him, so he loaded the firearm. He said that Haynes was still talking trash, so when he came at him again, he pointed the firearm at Haynes and he ran in the residence. While Haynes was turning the corner into the residence, Clark shot Haynes.
Haynes was flown by medical helicopter to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, where he remains after being treated for the gunshot wound.
Clark was placed under arrested and booked at the Madison County Jail.
