The Kiwanis and Junior Auxiliary have jointly coordinated what is sure to be a fun-filled event. Light Up Madison will begin at 4:30 p.m on Saturday, Dec. 6, in downtown Madison and will last until 8 p.m. Becky’s Dance Steps Studio will kick-off the celebration at 4:45 p.m. with a special performance on Pinckney Street between the Courthouse and the Courthouse annex.
Make sure you come hungry because there will be plenty of food available! Rancho Grande, The Brick Oven Pizzeria and One Scoop or Two will all be open during the festivities. In addition, the Madison County High School Key Club will be selling “Walking Tacos.” There will be other treats available along the street and in the local shops.
The parade will start at 6 p.m. and, immediately after, there will be entertainment at either a portable stage or the gazebo. Staging is to be determined. At 7 p.m., there will be a Jingle Jog fun run. Perhaps the highlight of the night will be Saint Nick, himself. You can find Santa Claus in the old Norris Drugs building where he will be available for photos. At 8 p.m., the evening will be concluded with a drawing for a child’s battery-powered vehicle.
Entry fees for the parade, the Jingle Jog and tickets for the drawing will be a donation of canned or non-perishable goods which will be given to the local food bank. Parade entry forms should be promptly submitted to the Madison Chamber of Commerce, located at 316 SW Pinckney Street. Light up Madison’s coordinators would like to thank the City of Madison for providing major support with public works and police, and Madison County Community Bank for providing the trees for Light up Madison every year.
