From Supervisor of Elections:

I have been made aware by numerous residents of phone calls from someone claiming to be calling on behalf of the Madison County Supervisor of Elections Office and encouraging voters to request absentee ballots immediately. Please be reminded that your Supervisor of Elections office will never call to solicit information from you or tell you what method to use to exercise your right to vote. If you receive a phone call of this nature, I encourage you to contact our office directly at 850-973-6507.
Absentee ballots are available and may be requested by a voter, immediate family or a legal guardian if directed to do so by the voter. Requests for absentee ballots can be made until the 6th day prior to the General Election from the Supervisor of Elections Office.
Early voting for the November 6th General Election begins October 27th and end November 3rd. Hours for voting will be Monday through Friday from 10am to 6pm and Saturdays and Sunday from 8am to 2pm. Early voting sites will be available at the Supervisor of Elections Office, Lee City Hall, the Senior Citizens Building in Greenville and Pinetta Volunteer Fire Station.

Two People Apply For School Board Appointment; None For Supervisor of Elections

Lane Wright, press secretary for Gov. Rick Scott, sent the following information regarding people seeking appointments to replace Tina Johnson as Madison County School Board Member, District 1, and Jada Woods Williams as Supervisor of Elections in the wake of their suspensions by Gov. Scott after they were arrested for voter fraud:

Jacob,
Governor Scott is working to appoint people to replace the Supervisor of Elections and the school board member he suspended in Madison County.
There is no timeline for making that decision, but his appointments office is working to fill them in a timely fashion.
So far there have only been two applicants for the school board position:
Nancy Moral
Mary “Susie” Williamson

No one has applied for the Supervisor of Elections appointment.

Supervisor of Elections Office Operating As Normal

“The Division of Elections has us operating the office as normal,” Kaomi Ghent, Deputy Supervisor of Elections told Greene Publishing, Inc. reporter Lynette Norris today. Ghent said that a person from the Division of Elections would come to the office to give them further instructions.

Greene Publishing, Inc. newspaper editor Jacob Bembry called the Division of Elections and asked them what the procedure would be to find an interim supervisor. We are still waiting on an emailed response to be sent back to us. Someone familiar with the Supervisor of Elections office told Bembry that most likely, the Division of Elections would send someone to fill the Supervisor’s role temporarily until Gov. Rick Scott appoints an interim Supervisor.
