Obituary: Douglas Blane Dulin

Douglas Blane Dulin, age 67, died Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Lake City VA Hospice.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Visitation was Monday from 5 – 7 PM at Beggs Funeral Home.

He was a former farmer, butcher, and Soldier. He was a Army Veteran of Vietnam and Desert Storm. He was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church in Crofton, KY.

Survivors include his son, Richard Dulin, Grant Park, IL. Daughters, Cheryl Newberry, Wendy Conner, Momence, IL, Kimberly Oglesby (Mark), Monticello, FL, Crystal Bochnia (Keith ), Madison, FL, 13 Grandchildren, Brothers, Irvin and bob Dulin, Crofton, KY and sister, Polly Knight and Nanny Cansler Crofton, KY.) Preceded in death by his daughter Bobbie Dulin, brothers, Dink and Jay Dulin.

Obituary: John Arthur Abbott

John Arthur Abbott, 60, of Madison, Fla., died Saturday, March 10 at his home in Jacksonville Beach, Fla. Memorial services will be held 2pm Saturday March 17 at the First United Methodist Church in Madison.

John Arthur Abbott was born March 30, 1951 in Vienna, Georgia, the fifth of six children born to Louie Edward Abbott and Bessie Lucille Sandefur. John attended Madison High School, and afterward entered the United States Navy, where he hoped to learn airplane mechanics. John was honorably discharged in 1975, and took up work doing carpentry and maintenance. John was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and bicycling, and spent his last years in Jacksonville Beach.

He is survived by his son: Daniel Abbott of Oakland, CA; daughter: Ashley Abbott of Colorado; 2 granddaughters: Katherine and Karen Freehling of Colorado; his sisters: Sandy Branam of Valdosta, Georgia, Brenda Croft of Live Oak, Florida and Sheila Anderson of Blue Ridge, Georgia; brother: Larry Abbott of Vienna, Georgia, Uncle and Aunt, Jimmy and Dot Abbott of Madison, Florida and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother Bobby.

Obituary: Ernestine “Tena” Holloway Floyd

Ernestine “Tena” Holloway Floyd, age 79, died Tuesday, March 6, 2012 in Jacksonville.

She was born in Live Oak, FL to Herbie and Alice Holloway. She loved geneology, puzzles, camping, beachcombing, shopping, playing cards, and most especially spending time with her family. She loved people. She had a very special gift of remembering more than most and became relied upon for those memories by all. She was a member of Missionway Church.

She is predeceased by her husband of 58 years James M. “Jack” Floyd., parents Herbie and Alice Holloway, sister Pat Holloway, and brothers Chris, Frank, and Ed Holloway. She is survived by her son, Jack Floyd Jr. (Lela), 2 daughters, Angela Seymour (John) and Carolyn Floyd Meisenburg, all of Jacksonville, Sister Edith Dobson of Jacksonville, 3 grandchildren, Brian Meisenburg (Melissa) of Melbourne, Emily Floyd of Tallahassee, James Floyd III of Philadelphia, and 1 great grandson Colin Meisenburg of Melbourne.

Visitation will be from 4-6 PM Sunday, March 11, 2012 and funeral services will be 11 AM Monday, March 12, 2012, both at Beggs Funeral Home, 235 NW Orange Avenue., Madison, FL. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Madison, FL. Beggs Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements (800-555-1081).

John Erfmann III, age 72, died Friday, March 2, 2012 in Madison.

Funeral services were held 11:00 AM Monday, March 5, 2012 at Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church, Greenville with burial at Fellowship Cemetery.

He was a retired Real Estate Broker and was of the Catholic Faith.

Survivors include his wife Virginia Holton Erfmann of Greenville; 2 sons: Danny Walker and John Erfmann; 2 daughters: Ginny Walker Francis and Sherry Walker; 3 Grandchildren: Brian Erfmann, Allie Schmidt, and Jenny Skripko; 2 Great Grandchildren: Emily and John John Skripko.

He was preceded in death by a son: Brian Erfmann.

Homer Calis Starling, Jr., age 84, a retired Guidance Counselor/Teacher, passed away
March 2, 2012, in Tallahassee, Florida.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Beggs Funeral
Home Monticello Chapel (850-997-5612), 485 E. Dogwood Street, Monticello, Florida.
Interment will follow the service at Oakfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 6, 2012 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Beggs Funeral Home Monticello Chapel.

Mr. Starling is a native of Homerville, Georgia and had lived in Tallahassee before moving to Monticello forty six years ago. He taught school in Taylor county and was a guidance counselor/teacher in Madison county. He is a past member of the Board of
Trustees of North Florida Junior College. He was of Methodist faith.

Mr. Starling is survived by his wife Fannie Starling of Monticello; three sons Michael W. (Lisa) Starling, Sr. of Monticello, Scott (Susan) Starling of Thomasville, Ga. and Terry Starling of Crawfordville, Fl.; one step-son Bricey Williford; one step- daughter Nora Pritchard; one sister Bessie Welch.

He is preceded in death by one son Larry Starling and two sisters Leadie Catherine Haynes and Mary Whitfield.

Milledgeville, Georgia; Agnes Cole, age 99, died Friday, February 10, 2012 in Milledgeville, Georgia.
Graveside Funeral services will be 11:00 Monday, February 13, 2012 at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be at 10:30 -11:00 AM at Beggs Funeral Home.
She was a native of Dickson, TN but lived in Madison, FL for 52 years. She was the only daughter of the late Harris Lovell and Maude Lovell Yates. She was a member of the Madison Presbyterian Church, choir, Pink Ladies and Women’s Club. She lived at Hughey Memorial Personal Care Center before moving to Green Acres Nursing Home in Milledgeville, GA in 2002.
She is survived by 2 daughters: Marilyn Drake (Harry) of Milledgeville, GA and Judy Donohue (Mike) of Tallahassee; 5 grand children: Richard Drake (Alla) of Tannersville, PA, Barbara Drake of Milledgeville, GA, Christopher Donohue (Meredith) of Kennesaw, GA, Michele Lorch (CB) of Tallahassee, and Brandy Donohue of Miami; 6 great grandchildren: Laura Drake, David Drake, Paul Drake, Cameron Donohue, Cole Lorch, and Haydon Lorch; 1 niece Kathryn Galway of St. George, GA, 1 nephew Bill Cole of Jacksonville, and devoted caregiver Helen Parham of Milledgeville, GA \
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years; Beasley Cole, and great granddaughter Taylor Grace Lorch.

Obituary: Vernelle B. Allen

Vernelle B. Allen of Dowling Park, Florida passed away on Monday,
February 20, 2012, at Haven Hospice in Lake City, after a two month
struggle with melanoma. She was born in Sanford, Florida, on July 31,
1937 to Ira and Charity Brewer.

Mrs. Allen was married to the late Louie C. Allen. She was a public
school teacher in the Suwannee County School System for 30 years. She
was very active in her church, the Midway Church of God, where she
served as pastor’’s assistant and coordinated many outreach programs
for the church. After her retirement, she was a certified volunteer
prison chaplain for prisons in Madison and Live Oak.

Mrs. Allen is survived by two sisters, LaVerne Lewis and LaJuan
Boully, as well as two children, Jeanette Allen and Timothy Allen,
four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at graveside at 10:00 am, Saturday,
February 25, 2012, at the Dowling Park Historic Cemetery, Dowling Park, Florida with Rev. Retis Flowers officiating.
The service will be followed by a public reception at the Dowling Park Church of God Fellowship Hall.

She was born in Madison County, Florida where she lived all of her life. She was a Homemaker and a member of Midway Baptist Church.

Survivors include 2 sons: Raymond Bell (Martha) of Lee; Lavaughn Bell
(Barbara) of Lee; Frances Latner (Isham) of Lee,; and Bonnie Floyd (Don) of Virginia Bch, VA; 12 Grandchildren; 31 Great Grandchildren and 8 Great Great Grandchildren; Brother-in-law: Frank Bell of Orlando; 2 sister-in-laws: Ruby Register of Lee and Ebbie Bell of Dowling Park, and a host of relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Joe Daniel and Henrietta Thomas; her husband Colon Bell; and 2 sisters: Eula Webb and Pearl Hicks.

Obituary: William Douglas Johnson

William Douglas Johnson, age 76, died Sunday, January 29, 2011, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Ga.
He retired from AT&T and moved to Madison in May 2011 from Valdosta, Ga. He attended First Baptist Church in Madison.
Survivors included his wife, Sally K. Johnson of Madison; one daughter, Willa Branham (Mark) of Madison; two sons, Douglas Johnson (Joyce) of Middleburg and Jeffrey Johnson of Kennesaw, Ga.; grandchildren, Marcia Bass (Donnie) of Madison, Donna Larson (Eric) of Middleburg, Stephen Johnson (Vanessa) of Jacksonville and Wendy Anderson (Kevin) of Madison; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Camryn and Megan Bass and Ian, Austin, Larson and Marissa Johnson; two brothers, Gregory Stewart and William R. Stewart, both of Norton, Va.

Obituary: Frank Wood

Frank Wood, 66, died in his home in Lee on January 26, 2012.  Mr. Wood was born on February 27, 1945 in Richmond, Missouri.  Mr. Wood was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary Nee Land for 43 years.  He was a loving father to:  Anita M. Winstead of Lee, FL; Michael (Lisa) Wood of Indianapolis, Indiana; Kimberly (Thomas) Cauldwell of Lee, FL; Robert A. Obituary: Robbie Jean Webb Ross

Robbie Jean Webb Ross, age 69, died January 5, 2012.

She was born in Madison County where she lived her entire life. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 7, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Midway Baptist Church. The family will receive visitors Friday, January 6, 2012, from 5-8 p.m. at Beggs Chapel in Madison.

She was a member of Midway Baptist Church. In 2004, she retired from the Florida Department of Children and Families after 33 years of service. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and gardening.

Survivors include one son, Michael Ross; a daughter-in-law, Harriet Ross; one sister, Margie Revels; five brothers, Arlie Webb (Sonya), Ira Webb (Judy), Johnny Webb (Jessica), James Webb and Dennis Webb (Rhonda), and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Connie Webb.

Obituary: Ira Lee Richardson

Ira Lee Richardson died Friday, December 30, 2011, in Madison.

Funeral services will be held at the Beggs Funeral Home, Madison Chapel, on Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Blue Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Beggs Funeral Home in Madison on Monday, January 2, 2012, from 6-8 p.m.

Ira Lee was born n May 9, 1939 at home on the Richardson farm. His parents were Ira Lee Richardson, Sr., and Avis Milford Richardson. He had lived in Jacksonville before moving back to Madison 30 years ago. He was a welder and did construction for Woodson Hopkins in Jacksonville. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and was attending Hickory Grove Methodist Church.

Ira Lee was survived by two sons: Mark (Lisa) Richardson of Baker County and Scott Richardson of Richmond, Va.; two brothers, Billy (Susan) Richardson of Madison and Ray (Mary) Day of Jacksonville; and a special niece, Maryn Richardson; and special nephews, Todd, Rodney and Joshua Richardson and James Day.

She was a homemaker, and worked at Precision Ware in Madison, bus driver for the Madison County School System in Madison and worked as a cafeteria cook for Willow Health Care Center in Willow Springs, Missouri.

She is survived by 4 sons: Delbert Blair (Martha), Wetzel Blair (Marilyn), Gwynn Blair (Susan) and Clay Blair (Donna). She has 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; 3 brothers: Henry Sands (Betty); Ira Sands (Cecila) and Jim Sands; 1 sister: Mildred Long; 1 brother-in-law Buck Blair; 2 sisters-in-law Frances Cantrell and Leona Gay and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Wiley Blair; daughter; Brenda Blair Baker; Son: Dale Blair and three brothers: Cleon, Newt, and Jim Sands.

Obituary: Jeffrey Frank Scott

PAVO, Ga.- Jeffrey Frank Scott, 52, of 105 East Harris St., Pavo, and formerly of Madison, died Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at his home.

A memorial service was 2:30 P.M. Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Salem Baptist Church in Pavo, with the Rev. Keith Wise officiating.

Born November 20, 1959 in Valdosta, he was the son of Judson Frank Scott and Martha Jean Hammock Scott. He was a self-employed woodcrafter.

Survivors include his beloved companion, Diane Adams of Pavo; his mother, Martha Jean Hammock Scott of Madison, Fla.; his father and step-mother, Judson Frank Scott and wife Carol of Live Oak, Fla.; one sister, Suzanne Ward of Kennesaw, Ga.; one brother, Judson Scott of Gainesville, Fla.; his aunt, Deborah McHargue and husband Ed of Madison, Fla.; cousins, Shannon Curtis and husband Nathan, Savannah Curtis, Sydney Curtis and Sadie Cutis and Lindsay McHargue, all of Madison, Fla; and his extended family, Matthew Adams and Adam Harden. He was very proud to be Adam Harden’s “Pop-Pop”.

She was born in Madison County where she lived most of her life. She was a homemaker and also employed with Dixie Packers and the Hillcrest Dairy Bar both in Madison. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Lee.

Mr. J. H. Sever, age 82, died Wednesday, October 19, 2011 in Greenville.

Graveside funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Walker Cemetery in Lamont. The family will receive friends 7:00 to 9:00 pm, Friday at T. J. Beggs, Jr. & Sons Funeral Home in Madison.

He was born in Madison County and was a lifelong resident. He was a farmer, logger and worked at Sherrod Lumber Co. He liked to hunt, fish and spend time with his family.

He is survived by 4 sons: Michael Sever Sr. (Rebecca) of Sirmans; Kevin Sever (Jenny) of Greenville; James Sever of Sirmans and Kenneth Sever of Greenville; 2 brothers: Jim Sever and Charlie Sever both of Jacksonville; 12 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Annie P. Hall Sever.

Born in Tampa, resident of Greenville since 1935, Pat was a farmer, a businesswoman and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe S. Reams, Sr., her brother Eugene G. Mugge, Jr. of Greenville, sisters Carmela Jefferies Zuzak of Mobile AL, Mary Frances Diegelmann of Weilburg Germany, and Tommie Lee Bruhl of Houston TX. She is survived by 5 children: Joe Reams, II (Kim) of Greenville, Linda Porter of Mobile AL, Amanda Davis (Frank) of Live Oak, Patty Jo Young (Greg) of Monticello, and Stephen Reams of Mobile AL, 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Pat served on the board of directors for the former Bank of Greenville and the Bank of Madison County and was the President of the North Florida Holding Corporation.
A member of Greenville Baptist Church for over 70 years she served in many capacities including Sunday school teacher, VBS director, WMU director, and choir member. She served the Middle Florida Baptist Association as a former president of Womens Missionary Union. She was a member and former president of both the Grenville Womens Club and American Legion Auxillary. She was a member of the San Pedro Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Pat loved to travel and had many interests, but the two greatest joys in her life were serving her Savior and spending time with her family.
