Obituary: Julius “Buddy” Jackson

Julius “Buddy” Jackson was born May 19, 1927 in Madison to Wise Jackson and Agnus Pinesett.

He was converted at an early age and joined Lime Saint Missionary Baptist Church, Madison. He attended the public schools of Madison County. He worked for Gold Kist for many years.

On June 3, 2011, Buddy received his wings and took his final journey to his resting place.

He is preceded in death by six brothers: Richmond Jackson, Smokey McGhee, Andrew McGhee, Willie McGhee Sr., William Martin and Jesse McGhee Sr.; two children, Nancy Mae Jackson and Julius (Thelma) Jackson, Jr.; three grandchildren: Toby Jones, Ahmad Jackson, and Amber Jackson; and a brother-in-law, John Lee Barfield.

He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife of 61 years, Ola Mae Jackson; 13 children: Richard (Jackie) Jackson, Leroy (Hilma) Jackson, Jerry (Sarah) Jackson, Sgt 1st Class Alvin (Angela) Swilley, Dorothy (Lonnie) Coleman, Reginald (Angela), Graham, Donnie Graham, Kenneth Davis, Reginald Walker, Laura Hills, Stanley Brown; a sister-in-law, Allie Mae McGhee; sister, Geraldine McGhee; brother-in-law, Theodore (Easter) Barfield; aunt, Ola Mae Hicks; 60 plus grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and one special cousin, Mr. George Pinsett (his fishing partner).

Services will be held Saturday, June 11, at 11 a.m. at Pineland Missionary Baptist Church in Madison.
