Madison Fire/Rescue responded to a report of a
brush fire at Byrd and Coleman. They found multiple
piles of leaves smoldering and burning near a vacant
house that had a “for rent” sign on it. The burn was unattended
and was a danger to the home and surrounding property.
The burn piles were quickly watered down. No injuries were
reported. With the hot weather of today (99 in Madison) and the
low himidity burning should be avoided until conditions improve.
