Michael Lashawn Miller
Deputy Knight requested Sgt. Dennis Pitts for routine assistance. Deputy Knight recognized the driver as Michael Miller of Greenville, Florida and ordered Miller out of the vehicle and conducted a pat down for weapons finding none. During the pat down Deputy Knight discovered a cigarette pack in Millers right front pants pocket and Miller granted for permission for Deputy Knight to look inside. Deputy Knight located two small straws with a white powder residue on the straw ends inside the cigarette pack. Deputy Knight recognized the straws had been used to consume illegal narcotics. Deputy Knight also located a small plastic baggy containing a white powder believed to be cocaine inside the cigarette pack.
Deputy Knight used a presumptive cocaine field test kit and received a positive result identifying the substance as cocaine. Deputy Knight placed Miller under arrest without incident. During the arrest Miller claimed the cocaine and stated that it was for personal use. Miller was transported to the Madison County Jail and charged with the following:
