A Lee resident sustained serious injuries in an early Wednesday morning wreck.
According to FHP reports, Jeanna Nichole Johnson, 26, was traveling northbound on SE River Road on Wednesday, April 13 at an estimated time of 8 a.m.
While Johnson was driving, a herd of deer crossed into the path of her 2001 Toyota Tacoma.
Johnson, trying to avoid colliding with the deer, veered her vehicle to the left, causing her to lose control of the vehicle.
The Tacoma began to rotate counterclockwise and rotated one half of a rotation before the tires of the vehicle furrowed into the loose sand, on the western shoulder of the roadway, and overturned.
Coming to a final rest on its roof, the Tacoma truck faced south on the eastern shoulder of SE River Road.
Johnson sustained severe injuries during her wreck and was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.
Florida Highway Patrol was assisted by members of the Madison County EMS, Madison Fire Rescue and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.
