Ted C. Ensminger, Sr. left this life to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Sunday morning, September 25, 2011. He was 88 years old. He passed away at Lake Park Nursing Home in Madison with family and friends at his side.
He was born Ted Carney Ensminger on April 28, 1923 in rural Landgraff, WV, a small coal-mining community in southern West Virginia. His middle name is the last name of the nurse mid-wife that helped with his delivery. He is the son of Paul Linus Ensminger and Willie Mae Brady Ensminger, both deceased. He had five brothers and two sisters. Mr. Ensminger was preceded in death by his mother and father, brothers Joe, Jack and Harry and his sister Helen and his first wife, Gerry Rose Ensminger. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ensminger (Gainesville), his brothers Morris “Bo” Ensminger, Bluefield, W.V., Freddie Ensminger, Fredericksburg, Va. and Ray Ensminger, Bluefield, W.V., and his sister Dot Wiles of Huntington, WV. He is also survived by his children, Ted Ensminger of Madison, William C. “Bill” Ensminger (Renee) of Orlando, Lee Ann Slauson (Harold) of Geneva, Amanda Ensminger of Jacksonville, step-children, Mamie Crouse (Stan), Jacksonville, FL, Ralph Poppins (Colleen), Newberry and grandchildren, Jeremy Cornell, Michael Cornell, Jordan Ensminger, Meredith Cornell and Travis Ensminger.
The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the west wing caregivers and management team at Lake Park of Madison Nursing Home for their loving care, to Mr. Buddy Reams for his love and friendship and to Big Bend Hospice for their counsel and compassion.
Cremation is being arranged by Beggs Funeral Home in Madison. A memorial service is planned at a later date. Interment will be at Monte Vista Park Cemetery, Bluefield W.V. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Big Bend Hospice.
