The Madison County High School Cowboys demolished the Taylor County Bulldogs 55-14 in varsity football action played in Perry on Friday, Sept. 23.
The Cowboys went to work early and took a 14-0 lead. The scrappy Bulldogs fought back and made the score 14-7.
The Cowboys could not be contained, however, as Tommie Young took a pass reception from D.J. McKnight 57 yards for a touchdown.
The Cowboys kept pouring the pain on the Bulldogs and led 35-7 before the Bulldogs scored again.
The score was Madison 35, Taylor 14 at the half.
In the second half, the Cowboys scored 20 more points and made it 55-14.
Quarterback D.J. McKnight threw two touchdown passes and completed six of eight passes for 200 yards.
Deonshay Wells completed one pass on one attempt for 31 yards.
Wells also caught two passes for 13 yards.
Tommie Young caught one pass for 57 yards and a touchdown.
Keon Bruton caught one pass for 14 yards and a touchdown.
Shedrick Williams caught one pass for 55 yards.
Tre Arnold had a 55-yard pass reception.
Charles Brown had a 31-yard pass reception.
Deonshay Wells was the leading rusher in the game. He had 12 rushes for 195 yards and three touchdowns.
Tommie Young ran the ball nine times for 51 yards and a touchdown.
Deontaye Oliver ran the ball six times for 48 yards and a touchdown.
Keon Bruton picked up six yards on two carries.
Troymond Alexander had one carry for one yard.
The Cowboys amassed 532 total offensive yards on 39 plays.
This week is homecoming and the Cowboys will face Providence from Jacksonville. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Boot Hill Stadium.
