Carrie Carolyn Taylor Clayton, age 98, died Tuesday, January 11, 2011, in Greenville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, January 14, 2011, at Beggs Funeral Home Madison Chapel with burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5- 7 p.m. Thursday.
She was born in Greenville, Florida on July 12, 1912, where she lived all of her life. She was a homemaker and liked to fish and grow flowers. She was a member of Greenville Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Brown (Evans) of Greenville and Barbara Stokley (Jack) of Monticello; a daughter-in-law, Joann Clayton of Lake City; a sister-in-law, Lillian Taylor of Perry, two sisters, Kathleen Floyd of Brooksville and Edwina “Dot” Bailey of Greenville; two grandchildren, Damon Clayton of Tallahassee and Lisa Holton of Greenville; three great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dock Clayton; a son, James Harrison Clayton; two brothers, Carl Taylor and Luther Taylor; and two sisters, Berta Mugge and Ida Mae Roberts.
