Mr. Wilbur Alexander Pulliam, Sr., age 93, passed away Thursday, February 17, 2011, at his home after an extended illness. A native of Madison County, he had lived in Valdosta, Ga., for a number of years, before moving back to Madison County in 1969.
He was manager of Handyman’s Building Supply for a number of years and a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Harris Pulliam, of Madison; one son, Wilbur Pulliam, Jr., of Madison; one grandson, David Pulliam, of Madison; one sisters, Geneva Harris, of Madison; one brother, Jim Pulliam, and wife, Laura, of Madison; one sister-in-law, Lucile Steward, of Clyattville, Ga.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Beulah Downing and Mary Dryden; two brothers, Leroy Pulliam and Grover Pulliam; and one daughter-in-law, Evelyn Rhodes Pulliam.
Funeral services were held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Unity Baptist Church. Visitation was held Sunday from 2-3 p.m. at the church. Burial followed at Barbara Memorial Cemetery on Dusty Miller Road.
