Greene Publishing received a call last week from a Greenville citizen in regard to two horses that were “being mistreated.” Consequently, a phone call to Madison County Animal Control revealed the agency had already been made aware of the situation and had talked to Greenville without any resolution. The responsibility appears to lie with the Town of Greenville because each town and city in Madison County has the option to pay Animal Control for its services, Greenville opted out, leaving Madison County’s Animal Control unable to address the problem. The pictures of the two horses show they appear malnourished. There was a food trough present, however, the photographer was unable to see if food was available due to private property restrictions. The original call made to Greene Publishing asked for help to make the public aware of the situation and to see if something could be done. If you have any information or would like to help, please call Greenville Town Hall at (850) 948-2251 or the Madison County Sheriff’s Office at (850) 973-4001.
