Three Greenville women were arrested for battery and cruelty to a child on Monday, Oct. 14. According to a Madison County Sheriff’s Office report, Deputy Brad Johnson was dispatched to the S&J Deli in Greenville in reference to a large crowd fighting in the parking lot. The dispatcher notified Johnson that several of the people fighting had sticks, mace and other items. Johnson arrived at the scene with Capt. Mark Joost and Cpl. Kevin Anderson. The officers were made aware that the women involved in the fracas were Maxzine Roberson, 26, Valarie Roberson, 29, and Louise Garrison, 23, and that they were at the Haffye Hays Park. A witness told Johnson officers that the three women had started fighting with the two victims, a man and a woman. A two-year-old, belonging to Valarie Roberson, was endangered in the fight. Family members took the child, with her approval. Valarie Roberson, Maxzine Roberson and Louise Garrison were taken to jail. A copy of the report was faxed to the Department of Children and Families.
