What 4-H Is All AboutOct 17th, 2013 | By Admin | Category: Community News
Story Submitted Every 4-H program is modeled around the teaching of life skills through the Essential Elements of Belonging, Independence, Mastery, and Generosity. The focus is to increase the knowledge, life skills, and positive development of youth in order for them to become productive, contributing citizens within their community and beyond. 4-H is a national, non-profit, equal opportunity, youth development institution that is open to all youth ages five-18. We depend heavily on the support of volunteers, community leaders, and local businesses to provide unique opportunities for our youth to enhance their chances of attending a post-secondary institution and ready them for the workforce. Many post-secondary institutions provide Collegiate 4-H, which allows youth to stay connected to the positive 4-H network as they move into adulthood. Membership and volunteer enrollment is available year-round. Youth do not have to be 4-H members in order to participate in 4-H activities, but club membership is encouraged for additional benefits.
