With the theme “Punish the Pirates,” Madison County High School hopes to shiver the timbers of the team from Fernandina Beach in its homecoming game on Friday, Nov. 1. Before the game that evening, though, the homecoming parade will be a great place for Cowboys fans to be or participate in. The homecoming queen and her court, who will be crowned on Tuesday evening, Oct. 29, at 7 p.m., will reign supreme over the parade. Applications are being accepted for the parade. School-related organizations can enter for free but those outside the school will have to pay a mere $20 entry fee. All participants in the parade will need to line up behind O’Neal’s Country Buffet at 9 a.m., as the traffic will move from west to east from the Madison County Library to O’Neal’s Restaurant and on through downtown Madison, where the parade will turn south at the Courthouse. No candy will be allowed to be thrown from cars and trucks for the safety of students and the community. To get an application for a car or truck in the parade, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. Applications and entry fees must be at the front office at the high school before Wednesday, Oct. 30.
