Florence (Peggy) Lanier Hinson, 76, died Friday, September 13, 2013, in the Hospice of South Georgia. She was born in Madison to the late Pinkney Kirkland Lanier, Jr. and Gwendolyn Coffee. A Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at 3 p.m. at the Madison Church of God. Mrs. Hinson moved back to Madison in the 1980s from Rock Hill, S.C. She was a Christian and a member of the Madison Church of God. She had a great sense of humor and was known to be mischievous. She was very involved with the ladies of the church and church activities. She was a member of the Woman’s Club, past president of the Garden Club and Vice President of the Madison County Historical Society. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and was an avid Gator fan! Mrs. Hinson is survived by two sons: Chris Hinson (Sherie) of Tallahassee and Barry and Tammy Hinson of Madison; four grandchildren: Amanda and Chad Gillean of Lovett, and C.J. Hinson, Bryan Hinson, and Jenna Hinson, all of Lee; two great-grandchildren: Mason Good and Presley Kate Gillean; and one sister, Gene (Ed) Lanier Bristol of Oakland, N.J. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, Curtis J. Hinson, and one brother, Kirk Lanier. Beggs Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 973-2258.
