A total of $12,000 in damages occurred to two vehicles in an accident on NE Rocky Ford Road, approximately .25 miles south of Almond Avenue, on Monday evening, Nov. 12. According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, an unknown vehicle was stopped in the northbound travel lane of Rocky Ford Road, facing south at the bottom of a hill. Read more

The Madison County High School Cowboys will begin playoff action Friday night at Boot Hill against the Providence High Stallions from Jacksonville.

Walter E, “Slim” Corbin, age 86, died November 13, 2012 at Lake Park Nursing Home, Madison, after a long illness.Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 16, 2012, at Evergreen Cemetery, Greenville.He was born in Winston County, Alabama and was a World War II Army veteran serving in Japan. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was the overseer of Pine Lake Ranch.He is survived by four sons: Donald Corbin (Muriel) of Madison; Laymon Corbin (Lori) of Placerville, Cal., Aymon Corbin of Tenn., Robert Corbin (Heather) of Bluff City, Tenn.; one daughter: Betty Jo O’Quinn of Greenville; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and five sisters.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd, Tallahassee, Florida 32308-5428, or the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
