Obituary: Dorothy Jean McKinney

Dorothy Jean McKinney, age 82, died Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at South Georgia Medical Center, Valdosta, Georgia.

Visitation will be Friday, June 22, 2012 from 6 8 PM at Beggs Funeral Home, Madison Chapel with a graveside service in Pennsylvania at a later date.

She was born in Wilkinsburg, PA and she and her husband had lived in Madison for 22 years. She work at Greene Publishing as a Advertising Representative, and was a member of First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-two years Oliver McKinney: Son Brian McKinney; daughter: Lois Reed: 4 Grandchildren: Kristie, Michael, Caylene and Shannon and 2 Great Grandchildren Eric and Preston.

Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Knights of Columbus Fundraiser

The Knights of Columbus will be hosting a fundraiser on Friday. They will be cooking their delicious grilled chicken leg quarters, baked beans, coleslaw, roll, dessert and tea for $6. The plates will be on sale at the Courthouse Lawn beginning at 10 a.m. This fundraiser is for the construction of a handicap ramp for the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

Meet Your Candidates

Do you really know who to vote for in the coming elections? If you are like the average person the answer is probably ‘NO.” The Middle Florida Baptist Association would like to help you in making a wise decision in this critically important election year. On Saturday, June 30, 2012 they will be hosting a prayer walk to allow you the opportunity to meet and pray with the candidates. The prayer walk will be conducted from 9:00 am – 11:00 am at Four Freedoms Park. So plan now to come and join with your fellow citizens on Saturday, June 30th from 9:00 am until 11:00 am.

Daybreak Creative Writing Workshop

Greenville Public Library will be hosting the Daybreak Creative Writing Workshop for children on Thursday, June 21. The camp will begin at 2 p.m. Author Angela Y. Hodge will be a special guest and teacher. All children are invited.
