Shortly before 2:00 AM on Friday, May 13, 2011 the Madison Fire Department and New Home Fire/Rescue were called to a blaze at Madison Metals on Highway 14, just south of Madison. Firefighters had to saw their way into the structure before putting water on the flames. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and fire units are still on the scene (2:30 a.m.). Madison Police Department, Madison County Sheriff’s Office and Madison County Emergency Medical Services also assisted. No injuries have been reported as yet. According to Madison Fire and Rescue, there was between $5,000-$10,000 damage and the fire was contained to the office area in the warehouse. The state fire marshal has been called to investigate the cause of the fire.
Keith Madison Phillips, who was featured on the front page in a recent edition of the newspaper, was arrested Friday, May 13, by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office. He was reportedly a fugitive who was wanted by Probation and Parole for absconding from justice.
