During the Tuesday, June 7 Madison County School Board meeting, Superintendent Doug Brown provided the board with recommendations for the renewal of contracts for the administration positions for the 2016-2017 school year.
The contract for Dr. Willie Miles, principal of Madison County Central School (MCCS), was not recommended for renewal. As a result, MCCS will have a new principal for the 2016-2017 school year.
In order to discuss everything regarding this position, the board held a workshop on Monday, June 13. A portion of this workshop was aimed at developing a job description specific to the principal position at MCCS. At the workshop, the board also discussed whether there would be a three-year contract or three-year commitment for the new principal. Superintendent Brown stated that the board is still discussing that with the Florida Department of Education.
The process for the new principal will begin next week.
The contract for Dr. Ida Walker, Chief Academic Officer for the district, was also not recommended for renewal. “I do not anticipate filling this position prior to my departure as superintendent in November,” said Brown. “Although there will certainly be some new placements of current District and school administrators, these decisions have yet to be finalized.”
The next school board meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 21 at 6 p.m. at the district office, located at 210 NE Duval Ave.
