Madison County Sheriff Ben Stewart reports that on Monday, July 14, deputies responded to SW Ona Lane and U.S. 221 South in reference to a complaint of an intoxicated male sitting in the roadway. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the intoxicated subject and identified him as Christopher Gianino, Jr., 21, of Greenville. Gianino, Jr. was extremely intoxicated and had empty cans of beer on the ground around him as well as his small dirt bike. Deputies convinced Gianino, Jr. to allow them to give him a ride home and loaded his dirt bike into the back of the patrol truck. Once arriving at the residence, Gianino, Jr. started acting disorderly and telling the deputies to handcuff him and take him to jail. Deputies tried to convince Gianino, Jr. to go inside and sleep it off, however, he refused to do so. Gianino, Jr. got into the back of the patrol truck and pushed his dirt bike to the ground while using abusive language toward the deputies.
At that point the deputies placed Gianino, Jr. under arrest and escorted him to a patrol car. Gianino, Jr. refused to get in the patrol car and struggled against the deputies’ attempts. A deputy then used his department issued ECD Taser X2 to stun Gianino, Jr. in his thigh, causing him to comply. Gianino, Jr. was transported to the Madison County Jail without further incident. Gianino, Jr. was charged with disorderly intoxication and resisting an officer without violence.
