Madison County Sheriff Ben Stewart reports that on Thursday, Aug.t 14, investigators of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force executed a narcotic search warrant on a building at 1586 SE Hammerly Street, in Lee.  The Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force investigation revealed a large building that was being utilized for an indoor marijuana grow operation as well as an electrical power diversion theft. The building contained “make-shift” living quarters and two separate grow rooms. Investigators discovered that the electricity needed to operate the grow house was being stolen by diverting the power before it reached the meter.
Investigators recovered 101 mature marijuana plants and dismantled the grow rooms including all the grow equipment used to ensure the operation could not be resumed at a later date. A suspect from South Florida has been identified and the investigation continues.
